softwater.io is an independent water-quality resource. We work with licensed local water treatment providers to help connect visitors with service in their area.

The hardness figures and secondary parameters on this site are read from published utility reports and state records, and every town page names the document it came from. We do not estimate, interpolate or model numbers, and a figure stays blank until a source exists for it. How that works in detail is set out in the methodology.

A featured provider may appear on some pages. Where one does, it is a paid referral placement for that region; where none is assigned, the page points to neutral certification directories instead. Provider placements never change a reported figure, a classification, or whether treatment is described as warranted — the data layer and the referral layer are kept separate on purpose.
